Rockett's First Year Preamble to Life

rockett with his first mohawk in his front yard

What makes Rockett Rockett:

o Sociable. Rockett loves to be surrounded by people-more than three people in the room and he's content.

o Curious. He is fascinated with books. Not the usual imagery, or story of the book, but HOW the book actually works, trying to figure out the binding, and how well the pages turn. He also fascinated with the itsy-bitsy things he finds on the ground.

o Determined & Resolute (or Stubborn & Bratty). Whatever you call it, Rockett certainly knows what he wants and what he doesn't like.

o Sleepy. Blessed with his mom's genes, he has the ability to sleep anywhere, even through a James Brown concert, mariachi and belly dancers in a loud restaurants and 10th inning excitement at Dodger Stadium.

o Dramatic.

Rockett's favorite things to do:

o Fine Dining - formerly sleeping at restaurants but now he has actually developed a gourmet palette for lamb and shabu shabu.

o Opening and closing the CD tray on the living room stereo.

o Howling like his brother, Quila when sirens go by or sometimes when he's eating.

o Dancing on command.

o Plucking the strings of the guitar. He's on his way to becoming a true rock star.

o Clapping his hands when he's happy.

o Standing on his chair.

o Going to museums and gallery openings. No, we aren't projecting on him, he actually loves to look at art and people watch. The larger and more colorful the better.

o Sharing his snacks. The only ones who actually eat the snacks are Quila and sometimes his Grandmas.

o Hanging out in the Toy Box at Day Care.

o Cuddling his Hand-knit blankets.

States and cities Rockett has visited:
Connecticut, Hawaii, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Nevada, Oregon, San Francisco, & Berkeley

Rockett loves going out. Here's a list of some of the more notable events he's enjoyed.

o Dozens of gallery openings and museum shows- including Dad's Speakeasy group show and Uncle Kips Hapa Show.

o His first Dodger game - he actually saw Great Grandpa and Great Grandma there. Too bad the Dodgers lost against the Pirates.

o Visual Communication's Film Fest opening night - He was often seen posing for photos with Dad and his Heineken.

o Seven concerts including: James Brown & Angie Stone, Thievery Corp & Flaming Lips, Blackalishous, Ozomatli & Ziggy Marley, Dengue Fever , AR Rahman & Musafir, and Kinky & Sidestepper.
